Honda Announces New Engines and Design Updates for Premium HRX Lawn Mower Range

This season Honda is introducing new engines and a host of updates to the HRX 476 and 537, Honda’s premium pedestrian lawn mower range. These changes result in increased power and improved fuel efficiency, reliability and manoeuvrability to all six mowers in the range.

The HRX 537 series gains more power and improved efficiency thanks to Honda’s new GCVx 200 engine, while the new GCVx 170 engine brings the same benefits to the HRX 476 line up. These latest Euro 5-compliant four-stroke engines provide class-leading power and torque, with improved fuel efficiency and easy starting even after winter storage. Automatic choke is standard, with accurate temperature sensing for optimum starting performance, plus both new engines deliver lower noise levels than the previous versions.

The number of parts that make up the engine has been reduced by 63 per cent to further enhance reliability and reduce maintenance times. The reduction in parts and the engine redesign has made the mower up to 2kg lighter than previous models, making it easier to manoeuvre around the garden. A new streamlined engine cover has been created to compliment the new engines underneath.

In addition Select Drive replaces the previous Smart Drive transmission on the new HRX 476 VYE. Select Drive allows the user to select and maintain the perfect drive speed to suit working conditions and their preferred pace using a rotary dial on the drive control handle. After stopping or turning the user simply has to depress the drive handle to resume at their chosen speed.

Improvements have also meant servicing and maintenance of the machines is now easier and quicker. The spark plug has been relocated to an easier access point at the front of the mower, while the oil drain has been placed higher up on the side of the engine to enable the user to fill/empty the oil more cleanly and efficiently. The fuel cap is now larger so it’s easier to fill and the air filter has been repositioned for better access and doesn’t require any tools to open it.

Prices range from £1,079 (including VAT) for the HRX 476 QYEJ to £1,549 (including VAT) for the HRX 537 HZE.

The new HRX 476 and 537 lawn mowers are available now from authorised Honda dealers and from the online Honda Store. Visit www.honda.co.uk/lawn-and-garden for further information
