More success for Honda in the Italian Enduro Championship

More success for Honda in the Italian Enduro Championship

This weekend saw more success for Honda as the Italian Enduro Championship headed into it’s fourth round of the year at Sant’Angelo in Vado.

Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team’s Thomas Oldrati proved to be the one to beat in the 250 4T class and overall. He concluded both days on the podium with an amazing win on Saturday and second on Sunday. This was enough to place him second and fourth in the overall standings.

With these results, Oldrati strengthens his leadership in the class and is now third overall.

Meanwhile it was a tough event for team mate Christophe Charlier who struggled on this type of ground: he finished fifth on both days in the ranking reserved to the foreigners.

Both Davide Guarneri and Davide Soreca from Honda RedMoto Lunigiana Team found the mud and deep swamps that had formed from heavy rain hard going, but managed to collect a brace of third positions between them.

Guarneri spent the weekend suffering with a back injury, but has moved himself into third position in the 250 4T standing, while Soreca is third in the 450 4T class.

In the S2 Motorsport Sembenini Honda-RedMoto team, Alex Salvini proved once again why he’s the rider the beat in the 450 4T class by taking two amazing victories.

Thanks to these successes, Salvini confirms his class leadership and is fourth in the overall standings.

The next competition for the CRF riders will be the GP of Greece in Serres (14 – 16 June).

Thomas Oldrati

“I’m very satisfied with both the days. On Saturday I was strong since the beginning and I won by managing a small gap on Cavallo. Instead on Sunday I made a mistake in the first Enduro test and he got the better. Thank you to the team for the excellent job and the Fiamme Oro Group. Now we have two weeks to prepare for the next two rounds of the World Championship.”

Christophe Charlier

“The team worked hard these days, but I struggled. It’s a shame, because I couldn’t find the right pace. It was an important experience as I never raced on this type of ground.”

Matteo Boffelli

“Great performance for Thomas, ruler in both the days despite a few mistakes on Sunday: too bad, because if not we would have a double win! Tough weekend for Christophe in unfamiliar ground. We must continue to work to find the best solutions for him.”

Davide Guarneri

“Unfortunately, in the days before the race I fell and I injured my back. I was hoping to feel better over the weekend, but the pain got worse. I raced with painkillers but I still had problems. It’s a shame because for sure I could have done better.”

Davide Soreca

“I had a good pace on Saturday and I kept up with the top riders of my class. On Sunday I struggled more, but I’m making progress with the bike. This is a good thing, especially in view of the double round of the World Championship.”

Gianni Belloni

“This weekend we played defence with Guarneri, because of an injury. Soreca is making good progress and his improvements give us hope for the next races. Unfortunately, the injuries at the start of the season stays with you, but we’re going back home with four podiums and important points for the standing.”

Alex Salvini

“I’m so happy with this double victory! On Saturday I had some problems as in the first lap the bike switched off and I struggled to turn it on again, losing several seconds. I came back into the race winning my class, but it wasn’t enough to fight for the overall podium. Sunday was better: I didn’t make any big mistakes and I finished third overall. Unfortunately, I paid the enduro test, not suitable for the 450 bike.”

Gino Sembenini

“Not easy race. Once again Alex got a good result by winning in both the days of the 450 4T class, but some mistakes did not allow him to fight for the overall. Anyway, it was a positive race: let’s go home determined to give even more in the next round of the World Championship.”
