Honda Motor Europe today issued its European Environmental Report 2020, summarising the results of the company’s environmental initiatives in the region for the fiscal year from April 1st 2019 to March 31st 2020 (FY2019).
The publication of the European Environmental Report 2020 is part of Honda’s commitment to disclosing information on its environmental policies and practices. The ninth annual report of its kind, it covers all entities controlled by the Regional Operation Board of the European region.
The report covers cars, motorcycles, power products and parts; summarising data from Honda factories, national sales offices, logistics centres, regional R&D offices and Honda-owned dealers.
The report also contains an overview of Honda’s global environmental results to allow the reader to frame the regional information provided in a global context. This is taken from the global Honda Sustainability Report 2020, published in July.
This year marks ten years since Honda established the Regional Environmental Secretariat to the European Environmental Committee to bring specific focus to environmental issues in the region, working towards its global 2020 Vision. From this Vision, the need to address climate change emerged as one of Honda’s top priorities and a focus of its corporate resources. As such, the 2020 Report closes the last decade with a review of Honda’s progress towards some of its key environmental objectives during this time, most notably the achievement of significant reductions in CO2 emissions and energy usage across its European operations.
From a products perspective, a focus of this year’s report is Honda’s progress towards its accelerated commitment announced during FY2019 that all of its mainstream car models in Europe will be electrified by 2022. This commitment puts the European business firmly at the forefront of Honda’s global ambitions towards electrification, reflecting the company’s confidence in its proven electric and hybrid powertrain technologies.
Key developments during FY2019 in Honda’s journey towards a comprehensive electrification programme for its business in Europe contained in the report include:
