Podiums for Soreca and Guarneri in the GP of Greece

Podiums for Soreca and Guarneri in the GP of Greece

It was an amazing weekend for Davide Soreca in the EJ class and Davide Guarneri in the Enduro2 class at the fifth round of the Enduro World Championship, held in Grevena, Greece with temperatures of over 50 degrees.

Soreca achieved a great second and third position that has allowed him to maintain his leadership in the world standings. After Saturday’s second position he faced a tough race on Sunday, in which he started from seventh after losing 30 seconds in a fall during the first Enduro test.

It was an outstanding first podium in the Enduro World Championship for Davide Guarneri. He put in an amazing performance in the Cross test, and was always in the sharp end with six best times out of the 19 special tests raced. His Achilles heel was the extreme test, with large rocks and no chance to choose trajectories.

In the EnduroGP class it was a tough weekend for Giacomo Redondi, who was tenth on both days. He experienced some falls in the extreme test on both Saturday and Sunday.

The next round of the Enduro World Championship will be held in Castelo Branco, Portugal (21-22 July).

Davide Soreca

“Here I was really fast. On Saturday, I fought with Freeman and I could have won but unfortunately I made two small mistakes in the Extreme test. On Sunday, the race was harder as I fell in the first Enduro test and had to recover. In the end, I got a second and a third position, plus I maintain the leadership of the EJ class.”

Davide Guarneri

“What a weekend! The Cross and the Enduro tests were great; both were suited to my racing style. Now I need to improve in the Extreme test. My adversaries are really strong, but if I could improve further then I can be on the podium again for sure. I’m proud of the good job done and I’m happy for the team too.”

Giacomo Redondi

“I’ve worked to find the right rhythm, especially in the Extreme test. Unfortunately, I crashed a few times and compromised my final result. We will try to improve in the next races.”

Carlo Curci

“It was a warm weekend with important results for the team. Guarneri’s potential is finally confirmed with him getting his first podium in Enduro2. Davide was very fast in both the Enduro and Cross tests. Soreca confirms his leadership in the championship, but he has to be careful of his adversaries. It was a tough race for Redondi, who didn’t manage to maintain the pace. There is no stopping now: there is still work to do to be more competitive for the next race in Portugal.”
