2020 brings with it two new additions to Honda’s robotic lawnmower range in the shape of Small Miimo Live (HRM40 Live) and Small Miimo (HRM40).
Honda’s robotic lawnmower line-up welcomes Small Miimo to its ranks for the 2020 gardening season. Two model variants – Live and Standard – priced from £849 are available in Honda authorised dealers and on-line at https://store.honda.co.uk/. Designed for gardens up to 400m² in size, the new model boasts a smart-technology suite that delivers an autonomous lawnmower fit for the smart home.
Intelligent Lawn care – Miimo mows smart
‘Map & Mow’ technology determines the size and shape of the lawn area and informs Small Miimo’s efficiently calculated, cutting routes.
A 400m² lawn can then be tackled in just half a day session, over the course of multiple deployments. Small Miimo’s route-planning logic reduces cut time by around 70% compared to a machine following a random route, so no section is covered twice, unnecessarily. This frees up your garden to be enjoyed quicker and minimises lawn damage caused by wheel tracks, too.
Small Miimo Live’s advanced Smart Timer function combines live weather data with a grass growth algorithm (based on academic research) to automatically generate its own, optimised cutting schedule.
In the ‘Mii-monitor’ application (available on Android and iOS devices), users can review the cutting schedule, check for warning/maintenance alerts and operate Small Miimo remotely. Moreover, Amazon Alexa compatibility offers voice control over the mower with 306 recognised commands.
Sit back and relax – Miimo keeps garden life simple
Installing Small Miimo couldn’t be easier, with a four-step process compared to nine steps for a typical competitor model. Thanks to the ‘Map & Mow’ technology, no guide wire is required, nor do a start point and a home point need be set, with the docking station doubling as both. The docking station is simple to setup, with the power cable conveniently encased in a tube and out of the way
Smart sensor systems ensure the mower circumnavigates obstacles in the lawn area trouble-free, while safety protocols detect lifting or excessive tilting and stop the blades to prevent potential injury, so you can happily leave Small Miimo to its own devices, even at night. Mowing at a quiet 63dB(A), comparable to the volume of normal conversation, Small Miimo is some 30dB(A) quieter than the average lawnmower.
Small Miimo cuts little and often, reducing stress on the lawn and the user in the process. Grass clippings created are so fine that they’re dispersed into the lawn root system, acting as a natural fertiliser, so no laborious collection is necessary – a win-win.
Quality condensed – Miimo is mighty but small
Small Miimo can achieve the sought-after stripe effect, often the preserve of professional sports fields, by cutting in logical 5m lines. Further scope in the lawn finish comes from the adjustable cutting height that can be set between 30mm and 50mm. Adaptable too, Small Miimo can cope with slopes inclined up to 15-degrees.
The handy ‘Place & Mow’ function is designed to tackle areas that have been previously inaccessible, under garden furniture, for example. Move the obstruction and simply lift and place the lightweight mower (8kg) on the patch and set it to cut either a two or three metre square.
Offering sharper cutting for longer, the blades can be reversed when eventually blunted, to extend the part’s lifetime. What’s more, Small Miimo comes with a 5-year domestic warranty as standard, covering both parts and labour.
True to its size this Miimo’s impact on the environment is small. Battery-powered, there are none of the exhaust emissions found with petrol lawnmowers. A further benefit of electric power is the lack of petrol and oil consumption, which require topping up, at cost.
The Miimo range now features five models which offer the perfect solution to those wanting a perfectly manicured lawn, every day, but would rather not or can’t spare the time to mow it themselves.
Honda’s Miimo range – something for everyone
Steve Morris, Head of Power Products at Honda (UK) comments: “The introduction of Small Miimo is a natural move for Honda, opening up the appeal of robotic lawnmowers to a wider market and giving customers the widest choice possible to meet their needs and preferences. With such intelligent features and functionality, it offers an incredibly simple and convenient solution to those with smaller gardens, with minimum effort required to install and keep it working season-long.”
