HONDA WINS TWO AUTO TRADER BEST BIKE 2018 AWARDS; GL1800 GOLD WING WINS BEST TOURER AND X-ADV WINS BEST SCOOTER

Honda has scooped two awards from the coveted Auto Trader Best Bike Awards 2018.

The GL1800 Gold Wing is Honda’s flagship premium tourer and was the undeniable favourite with judges this year winning the title of "Best Tourer".

The 2018 GL1800 Gold Wing is brand new from the wheels-up yet it remains instantly familiar. It still has an evocative, flat six-cylinder engine that delivers an avalanche of torque and power and is loaded with features that allow two people to ride in style. 

The new model is smaller, more agile and much lighter than the previous model by nearly 50kg. It is packed full of features including heated seats, for both rider and pillion, cruise control, heated grips, USB charger and storage for an iPhone plus keyless ignition, satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay. For the first time it now has the option to fit Honda’s innovative 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

Phil West, Motorcycling journalist exclaimed it “simply had to be our Best Tourer of 2018. It’s a big bike with lots of features and it is bang up to date. Yes it’s £30,000 which is a lot of money, but for that money you get a hell of a lot of bike.”

As if one award wasn’t enough, Honda also won the title of "Best Scooter" with the X-ADV.

The X-ADV mixes tough SUV styling delivering a unique adventure scooter experience with long travel suspension and strong performance from its 745cc twin-cylinder engine. Updated for 2018, the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) receives an off-road G switch, and the engine gets 2-Level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). A 35kW version is also now available for A2 licence holders.

Andrew Shim, Auto Trader Best Bike Awards 2018 Guest Judge stated “it really is a fun bike to ride and it looks absolutely awesome.”

As well as claiming two new awards for their trophy cabinet, Honda also collected another four accolades, achieving the most awards and nominations of any manufacturer this year. The nominations came in Best A1 for the Honda CB125R, Best A2 for the Honda CB300R, Best Adventure for the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sport and Best Naked for the Honda CB1000R.
