The Honda Rugby Club - Honda UK has launched an initiative supporting rugby fans and grassroots teams
  • In the second year as the Official Performance Partner of England Rugby, Honda is committed to supporting grassroots rugby across the country
  • Rugby fans and players are invited to sign-up to the Honda Rugby Club in order to take part in prize draws for exclusive rugby prizes
  • Local rugby union clubs across the UK can be nominated to be in with a chance of winning equipment, training and support for their teams

A new community initiative by Honda UK has launched as part of its commitment to championing grassroots rugby.

Honda recognises the importance of rugby at grassroots level, the Honda Rugby Club initiative is a way for rugby fans to champion their local players and teams.

The Honda Rugby Club has kicked off this month offering rugby fans the chance to win a dream experience to watch England vs Ireland in Dublin during summer 2023.

Once registered via https://www.thehondarugbyclub.com/, members will be automatically entered into regular prize draws. Prize offerings include rugby tickets, experiences and merchandise. The Honda Rugby club provides members with the opportunity to select and support their local rugby union club.

Once a local rugby union club has received ten nominations, they will be entered into a community club monthly prize draw, for the chance to win equipment, vouchers, kit and training support for their team. Once a club has received ten nominations, their entry into this prize draw is guaranteed every subsequent month.

Grassroots clubs are fundamental for the future of rugby, which is evident from the number of England rugby players that started their career in local rugby teams.

Leicester's second row, Ollie Chessum, played club rugby for Sleaford, Newark and Kesteven before getting his first big move to the Championship with Nottingham. Sale Sharks lock Jonny Hill also started out at his local club, Luctonians, before later signing for Gloucester and Exeter, while London Irish winger Ollie Hassell-Collins began his youth career with Newbury R.F.C. before he turned professional.

The Honda Rugby Club forms part of Honda UK’s continued commitment to grassroots rugby. Last year, local Honda dealerships donated more than 2,000 professional-grade rugby balls to grassroots clubs across the UK.

Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile at Honda UK, comments: “Grassroots rugby is incredibly important. It creates community, fosters talent and allows people of all ages and abilities to participate in a sport that they love.

“At Honda we strive to improve people’s lives through the power of dreams and that same challenging spirit can be found at rugby clubs up and down the country. We’re proud to be supporting community rugby through the Honda Rugby Club. It’s an opportunity for us to engage with rugby fans and support local clubs. We can’t wait for the first prize draw, so that we can continue to champion communities across the country.”
