Honda Motor Europe joins ACEA

Honda Motor Europe has joined the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). Representing Europe's car, van, truck and bus manufacturers, ACEA works to ensure the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the automobile industry in Europe.

Honda’s membership – which took effect on 1 January 2018 – will enable it to contribute to ACEA’s efforts as the industry responds to the future challenges of mobility, sustainability and competitiveness.

Katsushi Inoue, Chief Operating Officer and President, Honda Motor Europe, said: “Europe is at the forefront of global developments in the automotive sector and ACEA plays a valuable role on behalf of the European industry. We look forward to being an active, cooperative and constructive member. Honda has a strong focus on the European market, and our membership of ACEA, will deepen our involvement in Europe, at a time of genuine and dynamic change within the industry.”

Honda Motor Europe employs over 8,000 people across Europe, including 4,000 staff at its UK manufacturing plant, into which it has invested more than £2.2 billion since 1989.

Honda has made a commitment that two thirds of European sales will feature electrified powertrains by 2025. This goal is supported by the work of Honda’s European R&D functions in the UK and Germany, which continue to work on autonomous driving, advanced safety and environmentally efficient powertrain technologies.

Honda has a strong record of participation in a number of European research initiatives, including the Drive C2X connected vehicles project, the L3 Pilot autonomous driving project, and the ongoing HyFIVE and H2ME2 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle infrastructure development programmes.
