Honda announces its plans for participation in motorcycle motorsports world championship racing for 2020.
For the fifth successive year, Honda will use the ‘Design Studio’ area of its EICMA stand as the backdrop to showcase something totally new – in this case, the bold CB4X Concept.
The CB1000R, Honda’s Neo Sports Café flagship, receives subtle cosmetic changes for 20YM, further enhancing its premium feel and commanding road presence. Replacing silver accents, the now all black triple clamp and stem are complemented by a new Metallic Matte Ballistic Black headlight surround. Colour changes to the rear spring and front brake discs are capped off with a striking silver racing stripe running up the spine of the fuel tank.
Honda’s ultimate commuting motorcycle wears a tough, adventure look and features a torque-laden parallel twin engine, long travel suspension, internal storage compartment, LED lighting and LCD instruments with personalised colour options. Two Level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is fitted as standard. A 35kW version is available for A2 licence holders, and two new colours are available for 2020
The CBR1000RR-R is a brand-new motorcycle, built with an unwavering focus on circuit riding, with unprecedented levels of performance and control. Its inline four-cylinder engine draws heavily on the RC213V-S’s combustion efficiency ¬and low-friction technologies – while also sharing its bore and stroke; it also features titanium con-rods and forged aluminium pistons. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) has been optimised and adjustable Start Mode added to Power, Engine Brake and Wheelie Control. An aluminium diamond frame features a longer RC213V-S-style swingarm, with six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), 3-level Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) and Showa suspension front and rear. New Nissin brake calipers bite 330mm discs through 2-level ABS. The bodywork and riding position have an uncompromising focus on aerodynamic performance, and the fairing features MotoGP-derived winglets to generate downforce. A full-colour TFT screen and Honda Smart Key are the finishing touches.
