HONDA IS REFOCUSING THE ASSEMBLY OF ITS WALK-BEHIND LAWNMOWERS TO ITS FRENCH SITE IN ORDER TO SUPPLY CUSTOMERS THROUGHOUT EUROPE AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE

As of the beginning of this month, Honda France Manufacturing (HFM), the French assembly site based in the town of Ormes, in Loiret County, has taken on the role of assembling all walk-behind lawnmowers for the European market, for both combustion and battery-powered models. HFM was already the exclusive European producer of Miimo robot lawnmowers and Brushcutter (excluding UMR) and is now extending its production range of lawnmowers to include HRX537 and HRN536.  The Group decided to centralise the assembly of its garden products in France to better serve the European consumer, one of the Group's most significant markets in this field.

Located in the Loiret region of France for the past 37 years, the French factory is increasing its machine production by 15% to achieve a daily output of 2,000 machines. To meet these levels, the facility will increase the number of both permanent and seasonal temporary employees. By 2023, HFM will be employing 115 permanent staff. “Extending the production range to include all walk-behind lawnmowers demonstrates the Honda Group's confidence in our local facilities. The transfer also provides an opportunity to reorganise the site and modernise our production lines thanks to substantial investments. These developments will enable HFM to meet the production increase and achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality objectives Honda has set”, explains Thierry Commeyras, General Manager of Honda France Manufacturing.

The factory will also be refocusing the supply of machine components towards the European market, including the direct in-house production of some parts at the factory.

To meet its energy needs, HFM is participating in a project with the Orleans metropolitan area to use the exhaust from the local incinerator as a source of heating for the plant, particularly for the high-temperature baths of the paint booth. As a result of this process, HFM has set the goal of achieving 100% local and recycled energy consumption by 2025.
