Davide Soreca Vice World Champion with Honda-Redmoto

Davide Soreca Vice World Champion with Honda-Redmoto

Davide Soreca had real hopes to become the new EJ World Champion. This was the main goal at the Grand Prix of Germany, raced this weekend in Zschopau, Germany.

A tough race with mud, water, woods, canyons, stony grounds and three tests: Extreme, Cross and Enduro, followed by over forty thousand spectators. Here all the dreams of Soreca have been shattered by a strong and fast opponent.

Honda-RedMoto’s rider attacked from the start to the end, but on Saturday, during the second extreme test, a terrible mistake made him lose forty essential seconds. Even with this error he managed to finish the day in third place, one point behind his direct opponent Bradley Freeman. Sunday brought the decisive challenge for the title: and Soreca did not make any mistake, reducing to five seconds the gap with Freeman, who in the last test surprised everybody recording an amazing time. But it was not enough: with regret but aware that everyone in the team had done their best, Soreca had to settle to become the vice champion.

Meanwhile it was a good race for Davide Guarneri, who was twice fourth in Enduro2 class to claim sixth in the world standing.

It was much the same for Giacomo Redondi in EnduroGP, who also finished sixth in the world in his class after coming home twice fifth in Zschopau.

The next race for Honda-RedMoto World Enduro Team will be the Enduro competition in Bevera (Lecco) on November 5th.

Davide Soreca:

“I came to Germany with the goal to win the title. I did my best but Freeman was really strong. I’m so sorry: to become the champion was so important at the end of the season and I missed this goal by only a little. I’m so disappointed, but I’m aware I’ve done my best”.

Davide Guarneri:

“It was a positive weekend. On Saturday, I lost the podium for a crash in the second test, while in the cross and in the extreme I was so strong. Instead on Sunday I struggled a little bit more because of the rain of the night and I could not be fast as on Saturday. It’s a pity because I lost the podium for just a second”.

Giacomo Redondi:

“On Sunday I fought until the last for the fourth position, but I fell in the line test and I also made a mistake in the last cross test. However, I’m satisfied with my positions”.
