Honda features as official sponsor and supplier of cars and motorcycles for the 100th Giro d'Italia

Honda Motor Europe Italy will star in the 100th Giro d'Italia as official sponsor and supplier of cars and motorcycles.

The Giro d'Italia is one of the most important sporting events in the world, reaching a vast audience of athletes and fans. Honda's sponsorship of the Giro d'Italia will be supported by a substantial TV, press and internet campaign, which will transcend national boundaries and take the form of around 5,500 hours of programming, with an estimated audience of 192 million TV viewers and 16 million social media users.

The Corsa Rosa's roads will host over 130 cars, including the new Civic. The Civic hatchback boasts a sporty feel, in keeping with the spirit of the event, and exhilarating performance thanks to the new 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC Turbo engines. The HR-V will also be involved, sporting a typical coupé design and the versatility of an SUV, whilst the CR-V will thrive on the race course in its role as VIP Car, allowing guests to experience the excitement of the race first hand.

As well as the CIVIC, HR-V and CR-V models, the Civic Tourers will also play their part, escorting the athletes across the peninsula over the Giro d'Italia's 3,615-km route to the grand finale in Milan on 28 May.

Elegance, excellent performance and innovative technology are what set Honda cars apart. Combine these features with exceptional interior space, comfort and the utmost quality and it is clear why the Japanese brand's cars are perfect for athletes and their travel needs.

Honda has also recently updated and extended the range, introducing new models that have been well received by the public and are achieving excellent sales figures.

Honda motorcycles lead the way when it comes to riding stability, overall performance and reliability on any terrain. The distinctive models chosen for the Giro boast Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), a unique feature that only Honda offers for the two-wheeled world.

The 30 motorcycles that will escort the world cycling champions will represent the best of the Japanese manufacturer's Crossover range. Alongside five of the CRF1000L Africa Twin, the legendary maxi-endurance bike with a twin-cylinder engine, there will be at least 25 of the X-ADV, the new and innovative maxi-scooter, which is the first and only one to be showcased as a “two-wheeled SUV”.

The Giro d'Italia guarantees live contact with over 12 million people, involved in car exhibitions and custom gadget delivery. It also records significant audience figures on the various media platforms, primarily Italian TV.

Television coverage of the event boasts impressive figures: a total of 350 hours of programming, 190 hours of live TV coverage, an average daily audience of 4,200,000, with peaks close to 10 million.

Ends.
