World Title and record of victories for Giacomo Redondi and Honda-RedMoto World Enduro Team

World Title and record of victories for Giacomo Redondi and Honda-RedMoto World Enduro Team

An amazing Italian Grand Prix for the Honda-RedMoto World Enduro Team saw Giacomo Redondi take the Junior World Enduro Title.

It was two days of passion, sweat, fight, determination, perseverance and joy; a weekend in which the dream of triumph finally came true in a thrilling competition in front of a home audience.

Arriving in Fabriano (near Ancona) for the seventh round of the Enduro World Championship with an advantage of 70 points, Giacomo Redondi only needed to finish sixth to take the Junior World Title. Taking the 13th consecutive victory, Redondi took the title with three races still to go. The World Title has not stopped the Italian aiming for another milestone: the record for complete consecutive victories in a single season, Redondi took number 14 after Sunday’s race. Before this, only David Knight in 2006 had achieved this feat, but it’s the first time in enduro history that an Italian rider has won all the GPs.

It was also an amazing performance from Davide Soreca in the EJ class who was on the podium on both days of the competition, with a second and a third.

A Saturday double podium in the E1 class saw Oscar Balletti, who has only just come back to the World Championship after suffering an injury at the beginning of the year, finish second with team-mate Alessandro Battig on the third step.

It was a weekend of ups and downs for Davide Guarneri who took two eighth place finishes in the E2 class, although he was strong in the cross test he struggled with the other tests.

The next round of the World Championship is the French Grand Prix in Cahors (10-11 September).

Giacomo Redondi

“Winning a World Championship is a strong emotion, but even more thrilling is doing it at my home race, in front of my home crowd, friends and fans. At first it was a challenge, but after the first race the title became a real goal. We’ve worked really hard to achieve this result and in this perfect weekend we realised a dream. I’m so happy because I also the 14th victory in a row. I want to thank all those who supported me in this incredible adventure.”

Davide Soreca

“Two amazing days in front of the Italian public. I’m happy because I managed to stay close to first, finishing second on Saturday and third on Sunday. It is not a random result: we’ve worked hard in the last weeks and thanks to the good job the bike was perfect.”

Oscar Balletti

“The rehabilitation has allowed me to get back to the race in a good shape. Starting at my home race was exciting and everything has been amplified thanks to Saturday’s podium with the second place only behind Remes. Unfortunately on Sunday I was forced to retire due to a problem to the bike in the enduro test”.

Alessandro Battig

“Saturday was a great day. Finally I managed to realise all the efforts of a hard season and win my first podium of the year. However Sunday was harder: I struggled in the enduro test, although in the last lap I was able to recover time. Now we have a month off to recharge the batteries before the last round in France.”

Davide Guarneri

“Two tough days. My performance was compromised by two mistakes in the enduro test. In the cross one I recovered because I always finished first and second overall, however it has been a tough challenge. The goal is to work well on the extreme and enduro test to be ready for the French GP and finish in the top five.”

Egidio Motta

“We are very happy because in Fabriano the goal was to win the World Championship with Redondi and we got it. This year was not an easy challenge: we put on track five young riders, with different experiences and we managed to achieve high quality results, putting ourselves out there. I want to thank those who made this success possible, the sponsors, the riders, all the guys: Carlo Curci, Antonio Specia, Tullio Pellegrinelli, Salvatore Selloni, Fabio Re, Alessandro Tacchini, Fabio Giunta and the time keepers Katya, Judi and Martina. All of them, along with their efforts, their passon and their commitment, made it possible to reach a World triumph.”
