Honda Redmoto World Enduro Team starts the World Championship with a double podium

Davide Soreca took an amazing double second place in the EJ class at the end of the Grand Prix of Finland, raced on March 25-26 at the popular enduro race Päijänteen Ympäriajo around Lake Päijänne, this year in its 82nd edition.

It was a really tough race, with more than 264 riders who raced for 12 hours on Saturday – over 400 kilometres and 15 special tests – and eight hours on Sunday – 280km with 11 special tests. All this with strong weather conditions with blizzards, cold, ice, freezing wind and temperatures constantly below zero degrees.

It was an outstanding race for Soreca, who finished the 26 special tests always in the top ten.

It was a great race for Giacomo Redondi too, on his debut in the new EnduroGP class with the Honda-Redmoto CRF450RX Enduro with electric start. He finished tenth on Saturday because of two crashes in which he lost over half a minute trying to recover the bike, which had become stuck in the trees. Instead on Sunday he found the right rhythm and took sixth position.

In the Enduro2 class, Davide Guarneri had a good race and took two 11th positions. It should be noted that Guarneri trained in Finland for only a few days, finishing close to the top ten just because he hadn’t enough feeling with studded tyres.

The next race for the Honda-RedMoto World Enduro Team is the third round of the Enduro Italian Championship, scheduled in Viverone on April 9.

Giacomo Redondi

On Saturday I fell two times; fortunately I didn’t have any physical problems, but I lost at least half a minute or more trying to recover my bike because it was hanging from a large tree. On Sunday I crashed twice but I managed to recover and I’m happy with my sixth place in front of many protagonists.

Davide Guarneri

Unfortunately I could not train in Finland with my teammates because of my hand injury. On Saturday I made a mistake in the second special test and finished 11th. On Sunday I had a good start but then I made so many mistakes. I’m confident for the next GP in Spain.

Davide Soreca

It’s been a long few days but in the end I enjoyed it and I managed to get on the second step of the podium twice. I have felt comfortable with the conditions, but the race was too long.

Carlo Curci

It was a challenging race with strong weather conditions with snow, ice, cold for both the riders and the staff. Our riders put up a good fight. On Sunday Redondi scored important points in the EnduroGP thanks to the sixth place. Soreca was amazing in getting two second places in the EJ class. Finally, Guarneri had an uphill race because he wasn’t used to this ground.
